About Grant Creek Trails
It’s hard to imagine Grant Creek without a bicycle-pedestrian trail, but the trail, the carved benches, and the interpretive signs are all thanks to the support of Grant Creek residents organized by the Grant Creek Trails Association. [scenic photo of trail w bicyclists/pedestrians]
The association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was formed in 2007. It helped the city acquire easements for the trail and raised $180,000 as the local match for federal grants to build the city’s portion of the trail.
The city Parks and Recreation Department completed the trail from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to the city line during 2015. The following year, the county’s Parks and Trails Program completed the trail from the city limits to Mellot Lane. [photo of trail construction]
In coming years, the association hopes to extend the trail north to Snowbowl Road and south across I-90, connecting to the city’s extensive network of bicycle/pedestrian trails.
In the meantime, with permission from the city and county, the association has been adding amenities to the trail, including interpretive signs and benches. [photo of on the two most recent signs and one of our benches]
We look forward to continuing to work with the residents of Grant Creek and our many partners to improve and extend the Grant Creek Trail during the years to come.
